The West 39th Street District is the hidden gem of Kansas City with a unique blend of old and new. The half-mile corridor extends from Stateline Rd. to SW Trafficway, just South of Downtown and near Historic Westport and Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza. The West 39th Street District is the place to find the essence of local ambiance with original boutique shops, small coffeehouses, salons and services, and a wide variety of Kansas City’s best local restaurants.
The history of W. 39th Street District
39th Street is a major west/east main street that runs in Kansas City, Missouri from State Line Road to Topping Avenue. It was originally named Rosedale Avenue as it led to the town of Rosedale. It connects Westport and Kansas City, Kansas. The University of Kansas Hospital is at the starting point and the ending point is in the Leeds Industrial District
